2020 was an incredibly difficult year for our industry and 2021 has already started with its own challenges, with the new national lockdown.
One thing that we can be sure of though, is people’s desire to want to travel. Research with UK audiences has consistently shown that people want to get back to travelling as soon as they can, and if last year’s evidence post lockdown is anything to go by, there will be pent up demand as people look to book immediately as things open up.
International travel will be off the agenda for most people for at least the first quarter of 2021 and they will be looking for an adventure closer to home. This provides a great opportunity for UK accommodation providers to tap into domestic demand and capitalise on this pent up travel desire, although competition will be fierce.
